I.V. Renuka Prasad

 I.V. Renuka Prasad is a South Indian Percussionist, who started his first mridangam lessons under Mridangam Vidwan, Late Sri K. Sudarshanacharya, and continued to be a worthy disciple of his son Sri K. Rajagopalacharya. Renuka Prasad continued his advanced training with the legendary, Sri Madurai T. Sreenivasan, popularly known as Seenakutty mama. Renuka Prasad participated in many National level Competitions and won prizes. He pursued his Diploma from PS Telugu University, Hyderabad. 

A graded artiste from All India Radio, Hyderabad, Renuka Prasad is also the Aasthana Mridangam Vidwan of the Lakshmi Narsimha Swamy Devasthanam, Yadagirigutta.

 Apart from being a fine Mridangist, Renuka Prasad is also a very popular Nattuvannar in the classical dance arena. He is known for his rich voice modulation for rendering Jathis and Konagalu and his adaptability for both the Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam style of dances. Prasad’s mathematical progressions are popular amongst the professionals.

Renuka Prasad has been accompanying many artists of the dance field, in both Mridangam and Nattuvangam genres, for over two decades. Padma Bhushan Smt. Swapna Sundari, Padma Shri Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, Padma Shri late Dr. Sobha Naidu, Smt. Chitra Narayan, Sri G. Rateesh Babu, Dr.P.Rama Devi are some of the artists. He has composed jathis for many dance ballets. Along with his wife, vocalist Sweta, Renuka Prasad worked for the audio cassettes of Bhamakalapam (Kuchipudi dance ballet] and Bharatanatyam VOL 1&2, which were released by Aditya music. Both of them have composed and recorded many dance numbers which are popular in India and abroad. Renuka Prasad has travelled extensively all over the globe and performed in all major sabhas of the country.
