Sweta Prasad

Sweta Prasad, a Carnatic musician, has an artistic lineage. Granddaughter of late Sri C. Nagabhushanam (of ‘Raktha Kanneeru’ fame), she started her musical journey at the age of four. She had her initial training under renowned violinist, Late Sri Nethi Sree Rama Sarma for more than 14 years and is now continuing her advanced training under Dr. Pantula Rama.

Sweta was a gold medallist at the National competition of Annamacharya kritis, conducted by Annamacharya Bhavana Vahini. She has completed her Vocal Diploma with Distinction from PS Telugu University, Andhra Pradesh and pursued her Master’s in Carnatic Music from Padmavathi Mahila University, Tirupati. She has been awarded the titles, ‘Gaana Kokila’, by Hanumanpet Welfare Association, Hyderabad and ‘Ganaamrutha Saagara’, by Ganamukundapriya Sabha, Chennai. Sweta is an ‘A’ grade artiste in Carnatic vocal as well as Light music genres from the All India Radio, Hyderabad.

She has also made her mark as a Kutcheri artiste and strives towards learning the intricate nuances of the art form. Sweta has performed at the 600th Jayanthi celebrations of Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya conducted by both S.I.C.A. (South Indian Cultural Association, Hyderabad) and Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai. She has to her credit several audio cassettes like Annamacharya Kritis, Bhagavadgita, Lalitha Sahasranamam, Laxmi Sahasra namam, Bhama kalapam and many more. She is a regular performer at the prestigious Chennai Seasoned concerts for Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Vilasini Natyam. Sweta has performed in the Nada Neerajanam, a live classical show, telecast by the SVBC channel, Tirupati. Impressed by her rich talent, Sweta was invited by the Nanganallur Tyaga Brahma Sangeetha Samajam, Chennai, for her classical vocal concert, in the series of the renowned Kutcheri artists, like Sri Sanjay Subbramanyam, Sri Abhishek Raghuram, Sri T M Krishna and others.

Pursuing her interest and passion for music, she has carved a niche for herself as an accompanying vocalist in the classical dance arena in last 24 years. She is a fine vocalist accompanying many leading artistes of the country. Pama Shri Dr. Sobha Naidu, Padma Shri Shobhana, Padma Bhushan Smt. Swapna Sundari, Padma Shri Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant,Dr.P.Rama Devi, Padma Sri Geeta Chandran, Padma Shri Jaya Rama Rao & Vanasri, Dr. Alekhya Punjala, Smt. Poorva Dhanasree, Smt. Deepika Reddy, Sri. G. Rateesh babu to name a few. 

Apart from travelling extensively all over India, Sweta also toured the United States, China, Japan, Malaysia, Bangkok, Turkey, Sweden & Syria sponsored by I.C.C.R (Indian Council for Cultural Relations). She has also been a seasoned artist for the Sri Krupa Dance Company, California. USA. She has performed more than 2000 concerts all over the globe which includes more than 200 Arangetrams for classical dance.

With her innate talent and careful grooming, Sweta has to her credit of composing music for many dance ballets. Sweta intends to extend her musical quest beyond horizons and make it a learning experience of the soul.
