Kuchipudi dancer & Founder of Jyothi Kalakshetram, Jyothi Reddy, speaking to Natyahasini shares that one of her students, Lalitha Sri Pinapala, daughter of Udaya & Vinod, will be performing her Rangapravesham on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the auditorium of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, King Kothi from 5.30 pm onwards. She says that the Chief Guest of the evening is Sri Mamidi Harikrishna, Director, Dept. of Language & Culture, Govt. of Telangana, and the Guest of Honour is Dr. E Sivanagi Reddy – Sthapati CEO, Pleach India Foundation.
On her disciple, Guru Jyothi Reddy says that Lalitha Sri has the skill and dedication towards Kuchipudi. “Lalitha Sri is very sensible, well-mannered and responsible which are the much-needed qualities to become a successful artist,” she says.
Lalitha Sri acknowledges that the Guru is everything in one’s life and nothing is possible without the Guru. “Life needs power to push you up and Guru is that superpower,” she says. Lalitha Sri says that presently, she is learning from Guru Jyothi Reddy garu. “I didn’t have any inkling that I’ll be performing my Kuchipudi Rangpravesham under the direction of Jyothi ma’am, so soon. I was caught unaware when ma’am said I would be performing my Rangapravesham,” Lalitha Sri says. She reveals that after seven months of intensive training, she would be performing her Kuchipudi Rangpravesham on September 26, 2021.
Speaking about her Guru, Lalitha Sri says: “Jyothi ma’am is very kind, interactive and fun. She is also stern during classes (only sometimes) if we make any mistake.” She says her ma’am has very comprehensively taught about every taalam and raagam. “She has explained to me every taalam explicitly, and which step according to taalam would come in the song. Ma’am has choreographed few songs exclusively for my Rangapravesham. For me, Jyothi ma’am is quintessential of a teacher,” says shishya Lalitha Sri.
Her parents Udaya and Vinod state that their daughter Lalitha Sri is very fortunate to perform Rangapravesham as the student of Jyothi Reddy garu. “We as parents are greatly indebted to Jyothi Reddy garu for encouraging, motivating and guiding Lalitha Sri at all times. Lalitha Sri initially began learning Kuchipudi under Guru Smt. Padmaja Nidimoru. Later, she joined Jyothi Kalakshetram. The intensive and methodical training at Jyothi Kalakshetram, under Guru Jyothi Reddy garu, has taught Lalitha the divine art form along with discipline, value, perseverance and hard work,” the parents say.
On their daughter learning dance, the parents say: “Lalitha Sri has always shown exemplary aptitude and grasping ability. She has performed in many major dance events held at schools, temples & in cultural organisations on behalf of Jyothi Kalakshetram. She is a quick learner, keen observer, and analyses her strengths and flaws after every class & performance,” they say. The parents add that their daughter is grateful to her Guru who has moulded and guided her to believe in herself and understand that success follows anyone who is hard working, disciplined and passionate.
According to her parents Lalitha Sri, student of Class VIII, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, is blessed to have excellent Gurus who have shaped her cultural and artistic skills. They say that Lalitha Sri is also learning Carnatic Music from Smt. Nalini Gajula and drawing and painting from Sri Shiva Rama Krishna garu. “The discipline which has been inculcated in her by her Gurus has helped her to excel in academics too,” they add.
The live orchestra for Lalitha Sri’s Rangapravesham, include Guru Jyothi Reddy on Natuuvangam, Mantha Srinivas on vocals, Nageshwar Rao on Mridangam, Uma Venkateshwarlu on Flute, Anil Kumar on Violin, Sridharacharya on Percussions, Hamsa Awardee & Kalaratna, Ambadipudi Murali Krishna as Vyaakhyatha, Costumes by Kishan Lal, Make-up by Umapathi Mallareddy, Lights handling by Basava Raju and Stage decor by M Ramudu.
