Kutiyattam

Kalamandalams – Charu Agaru (Ravana), Ramith Ramesh (Jadayu), Sajikumar Margi Mahesh (Mizhavu), Sarath VG (Idakka), Dakin (Chutty)and Subiksha Sundaraman (Thalam) present Jadayu Vadham in Kutiyattam style, which is considered the oldest living theatre form in the world by UNESCO. In olden times, this art form was performed by a particular community called Chakyar and Nangiar, and the drummer is called Nambiar. But it has changed since 1965. This form tells the story through gestures called Mudras, also with chanting and the essential part of this form is facial expressions including Navarasas. The performance begins at Kinnera Hall, Gitam University from 3.30pm onwards.
