On the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, students of Varna Arts Academy presented a cultural event at Shri Jagannath Temple, Road No 12 Banjara Hills in March. The artists of the evening were Akshara Ramakrishnan, M Ameya Gnanasaikhya, Ananya R Menon, Meenakshi Bathula, Meghana Chittineni, Rishika Anand and Sreya Masilamanian.
Guru Smitha Madhav was in the forefront giving vocal support and all dance pieces for the evening were choreographed by her. The evening began as is customary with Ganesh Vandana, seeking blessings of dhukha harta and sukh harta to ward off all evils.
It was followed by Lingashtakam, in praise of Lord Shiva and extolling his miracles. Next came another Adi Shankaracharya piece on Nirvana Shatkam and Rudra Ashtakam. The evening culminated with Tillana. The audience appreciated the efforts of the young dancers in presenting Lord Shiva’s praise in full splendour.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
