Kuchipudi dancer Snehalatha Naroju trained under gurus Dr. Uma Rama Rao, Dr. Alekhya Punjala and Guru Vedhantam Satya Narasimha Sastry. She was initiated into Andhra Natyam and Folk dance under the guidance of Tanguturu Bheeman and Devulapally Prashanth. Her ardent desire to learn Kuchipudi brought her under the tutelage of Gurus Dr. Uma Rama Rao and Dr. Alekhya Punjala. Presently she is undergoing training with Guru Vedantham Satya Narasimha Sastry. She learnt Abhinaya from ‘Bharata Kala Prapoorna’ Padma Shri Guru Nataraja Rama Krishna.
With over 15 years of dancing experience, Snehalatha has been bestowed with ‘Vishista Puraskar’ award from Telangana State Government, Natya Mayuri, Best Dancer with Gold Medal, Natya Sudha, Natya Bharathi and Best Youth Award to name a few. An Electric and Electronic Engineer from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and Diploma in Fashion Designing from NIFT, Hyderabad, the Kuchipudi dancer is pursuing PhD in Dance from University of Hyderabad under the guidance of Dr. Shiva Raju. She also holds Masters in Performing Arts from University of Hyderabad and Diploma in Kuchipudi Yakshaganam and Andhra Natyam from Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad.
Snehalatha has performed in several prestigious venues and dance festivals throughout India and toured globally in the US, Dubai, Malaysia, Mauritius and Pakistan. She says that each stage has its own aura and energy whether it is closed auditoriums or open spaces. “Also depending on requirements preferences change,” she says.
