Bengaluru-based Akshara Harini Gande, disciple of Guru Smt. Sharmila Gupta, will be performing her Arangetram at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday, September 26, 2021. The programme is expected to begin at 6.05pm.
Speaking to Natyahasini, Akshara’s mother Usharani shares that her daughter began learning dance at the age of five years and has been learning for over seven years with Guru Smt. Sharmila Gupta. Sharmila ji is part of Antar Shaala, Bengaluru-based Upadhye School of Dance. She learnt dance under veteran Guru late Smt. Padmini Ramachandran.
Akshara, student of Sharanya Narayani International School, is studying in Class VIII. Her mother learnt Bharatanatyam when she was young, but couldn’t pursue it and encouraged her daughter Akshara, who is also passionate about dance to learn.
Akshara, who had her Gejje Puja on February 5, 2017, has been performing at various forums like Kalotsav, Bangalore, ISHDCON 2017 at Ramoji Film City, ISKCON Janmastami celebrations, Whitefield, Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations by Army Welfare Association, Keralapuram Kumbhabishekam festival Palakkad and many temple festivals. She has participated in various dance competitions and won prizes. Akshara completed her Junior Diploma in Bharatanatyam from the Bangiya Sangeet Parishad with a high distinction. In addition to excelling in Academics, Akshara is also a Black Belt in Karate.
Akshara will be performing 10 items. They are Mallari, Ganesha Vandane, Bharathakula Bhagya Kalike, Alarippu, Varnam, Adivo Alladivo Sri Hari Vasamu, Himagiri Thanaya, Raghuvamsha Sudhambudi Chanda Sree, Thillana and Mangalam. On the Music Ensemble, Guru Smt Sharmila Gupta on Nattuvangam, Vid. Sri Balasubramanya Sharma on Vocals, Vid Sri Janardhan Rao on Mridangam, Vid Sri Narasimha Murthy on Flute, Vid Sri Kolanka Sai Kumar on Violin.
