Ravindra Bharathi will be buzzing with cultural activity beginning Sunday 19th December 2021 from 5.30pm onwards. Warangal-based Kuchipudi dancer B Sudheer Rao has curated three-day dance programme with artists from across the country. The best of the best dancers and gurus will be ascending in the city to perform and also watch the youngsters take centre-stage.
National Dance Festival UDVIGNA 2021 is an ensemble of many dance forms and one emotion presented by Guru Shri Shivananda Nrithyamala and Department of Language & Culture, Govt. of Telangana and Telangana Tourism from 19 December to 21 December 2021.
On the first day, the different dance forms include Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and Perini. Hyderabad-based Natya Tarangini director and Yuva Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Yamini Reddy & her troupe will present Kuchipudi. Bangalore-based Shambhavi Dance Ensemble’s founders, Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Vyjayanthi Kashi and Yuva Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Prateeksha Kashi will also be presenting Kuchipudi. Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Kalaimamani Gopika Varma and troupe from Chennai will be presenting Mohiniyattam. Perini Sandeep of Sri Manidweepa Arts Academy, Hyderabad will present Perini Natyam.
The distinguished guests for the evening include – Chief Guest, Dr. V Srinivas Goud, Hon’ble Minister for Prohibition & Excise, Sports, Youth Services, Tourism, Culture and Archaeology; Guests of Honour Padma Bhushan awardees Drs. Raja Reddy & Radha Reddy; and Prof. T Kishan Rao, Vice Chancellor, Potti Sreeramuu Telugu University.
On the second day, Rasikas will witness the performances of Orissa Dance Academy disciples of Padma Shri Aruna Mohanty, perform Odissi. Also, Avijith Das and troupe of Kimaham Dance Academy, Bangalore will perform Kuchipudi. Founder Director UCPA and Bharatanatyam dancer, Abhinaya Kalaratna Smt. Geetha Ganesan and group will perform Bharatanatyam. Ugadi Puraskaram holder from Andhra Pradesh government, Dr. Patnam Shiva Prasad and troupe will perform Kuchipudi. The honourable guests for the evening are – Chief Guest, Sri D Vinay Bhaskar, Honourable Govt Chief Whip & MLA Warangal West; Guests of Honour – Sri KV Ramana Chary, IAS Retd., Advisor Govt of India; Prof. P Ramalinga Sastry, Kalaratna, Central SNA Awardee, (Former) Dean SN School of Arts & Communication, University of Hyderabad.
On the final day, the dance forms to be presented include Kuchipudi, Kathak, and Chhau. Founder Director Deepanjali School of Dance and Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Kalaratna Smt. Deepika Reddy’s disciples will be presenting Kuchipudi. Kolkata based Paramita Maitra and troupe of Nrityangan Kathak Kendra will present Kathak. Disciples of Yuva Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee Rakesh Sai Babu of Trikaya Dance Company, Delhi will present Chhau. Hyderabad-based Nritya Shiromani, M Surendra Nadh and A Grade artist Bijina Surendra Nadh will present Kuchipudi.
