Gowthami K

Dr. Gowthami K, Bharatanatyam artiste, received her training under Guru Kalaimamani Urmila Satya Naraayana, Guru Umamudhubala and Devendrapillai of Tirupati, and Guru Pasumarthi Ramalinga Sastri of Hyderabad. She completed her Ph. D from the University of Hyderabad under the guidance of Guru Pasumarthi Ramalinga Sastri.

Earlier, Dr. Gowthami received a Certificate in Bharatanatyam, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, in 1997, Diploma in Bharatanatyam, Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, 2000; M.A (Performing Arts – Bharatanatyam), University of Hyderabad, 2006; and M. Phil (Folk Arts), Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, 2007.

In the major dance ballets, Dr. Gowthami has performed as Bhooloka Lakshmi and Vakula Mata in Srinivasa Kalyanam, as Rukmini in Rukmini Kalyanam, as Andal in Goda Kalyanam, as Goda Devi in Varana Mayiram, as Ganga in Shiva Ganga, as Parvathi in Parvathi Parinayam, as Parvathi in Manikantta Vijayam, as Parvathi in Srinivasa Kalyanam. She has also performed at many National Youth Festivals, University Festivals and Dance Festivals all over India. Also, for A.P Tourism on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Chidambaram Natyanjali Festival, SVBC and the Melattur Bhagavatamela 75th festival.

She founded the Nrityalaya, Temple of Bharatanatyam, in 2011 and presently, more than 70 students from all age groups are learning Bharatanatyam. Her students have performed at many youth festivals all over the country, and they secured many prizes at events held in Bhadrachalam, Tirupathi, Chennai and Tanjore to name a few.
