Mitha Kathakar has been practicing Kathak for over two decades under “Karnataka Kalashri” Guru Nandini Mehta and Guru Sri Murali Mohan in Bangalore. To further polish the nuances of Lucknow Gharana, she got the opportunity to train under Guru Smt. Durga Arya who is the prime disciple of Padma Bhushan award recipient Guru Sri Pt. Birju Maharaj ji.
She has attended many workshops conducted by eminent artist and stalwarts in Kathak like – Guru Pt Birju Maharaj ji, Guru Pt Rajendra Gangani ji, Guru Smt. Shama Bhate ji, Guru Smt. Rani Khanam ji, Guru Maulik Shah & Ishira Parikh and many more. She has completed her Vidhvat in Kathak from Karnataka University and pursuing Masters in Kathak from Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth Pune.
Trained as a solo dancer, Mitha has given innumerable performances in the most prestigious places across India, the US, Canada and other South East Asian countries as a soloist and as an ensemble member. She is a Graded artist of the National Television of India, Doordarshan. An empanelled artist of ICCR (as a Group artist).
She is the Founder and Artistic Director of Tatvamasi Centre for Performing Arts in Hyderabad. The Institute was established in the year 2011 with an aim to promote and spread the rich Indian culture among the older and the younger generations through her performances, Lec-Dems, workshops and regular classes. She has received “Yuva Kala Samman” and “Yuva Kala Ratna” as a recognition for her service towards the art and culture of India.
