P B Krishna Bharathi

Prativadi Bhayankara Krishna Bharathi, popularly known as P B Krishna Bharathi, is a Kuchipudi teacher, who learnt dance under Vedantam Prahlada Sarma and later under Padma Shri Dr. K Sobha Naidu. Hailing from Hyderabad and belonging to a family well-versed in different arts, P B Krishna Bharathi has made a mark for herself in the field of Kuchipdi. After serving in Guru Sobha Naidu’s Srinivasa Kuchipudi Art Academy as a teacher for few years, Bharathi founded the Pallavi Academy of Fine Arts in Habsiguda, Hyderabad.

Bharathi, who holds a Master’s Degree in dance from the University of Hyderabad, has many years of experience as a performer and teacher. She is well-known for her talent in Nattuvangam with immense grip in tala and laya and has accompanied the troupes of Padma Shri K Sobha Naidu and Anuradha Jonnalagadda in nattuvangam at various festivals and won accolades from one and all.

A recipient of many awards and titles, including Sanskriti Ratna, Natyasri, Ugadi Puraskar, NTR Puraskar and Natya Visaradha, Bharathi has choreographed many dance ballets and solo items. Some of the dance ballets include Kaaliya Mardhana, Aagrahaanugraham, Sankranthi, Gurubhyonamaha and Katha Kelika to name a few. Also, she has choreographed many tarangams tillanas, different vageyakara keerthanas, jathiswarams etc. 

She has trained many students from the beginning to Rangapravesham to post graduate degrees and some of them are teaching dance across the world. She has also given personal training to students in Charlotte, US, for their Rangapravesham and also conducted workshops in the branch of Pallavi Academy of Fine Arts. Her students have taken part in prestigious festivals like Konark Music and Dance Festival, Swaralaya Festival, Surya Festival, Cudappah Utsavala, Nada Neerajanam, World Telugu Conference, Pushkara Sabharalu, Tirupati Brahmotsavalu, Silicon Andhra Kuchipudi International Festivals etc. Also, her students have competed and won prizes in various Youth Competitions, Muvvala Savvadi Competitions, Siri Siri Muvva Competitions, All India Competitions etc.

The Kuchipudi teacher has also toured and conducted workshops in Washington DC, US in 1999, and Charlotte North Carolina.
