Pavan Kumar Perini

Pavan Kumar started learning Andhra Natyam at a young age of six from renowned Andhra Natyam exponent, Guru, Scholar and musicologist, Dr. Nataraja Rama Krishna. He also learnt from Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Kala Krishna – Abhinava Satyabhama. Later, he learnt Perini Shivatandavam, a male dance form that originated and prospered during Kakatiya dynasty. Pavan Kumar is also an exponent of “Ardhanaareeshwara”, a unique classical dance tradition. 

He has participated in major Dance festivals and programmes across the country and performed in the US, Malaysia and Dubai, and was part of the ICCR contingent to Japan. His Perini Shivatandavam and Ardhanaareshwaram performances have won him laurels. He has also performed in various ballets choreographed / performed by Andhra Natyam and Kuchipudi gurus. Pavan Kumar has been working as a dance teacher in various private schools and organisations. Presently, he is working as Perini dance lecturer in Sri Bhaktha Ramadasu Government College of Music and Dance, Secunderabad. His choreographies include ‘Devi Mahatyam’ – Dance Ballet, Saraswati Stotram, ‘Surya Namaskaram’, Sapta Tala Raga Swara Narthanam’ and ‘Hamsa’. 

Graded artist by Doordarshan, Pavan Kumar has been bestowed with Natya Kumara Award at Nataraja Nrutyotsav, in Vishakhapatnam, Yuva Kalarathana Award from Sri Sai Manjeera Kuchipudi Art Academy, Guntur and ‘Perini Natya Ratnakara’ title from Sri Paramaacharya Seva Trust, Ramapally, Hyderabad.
