Prayas, Kathak Workshop Gets Going

Renowned Kathak artist and maestro Pt. Rajendra Gangani is conducting a three day workshop, Prayas from 7th April to 9th April starting from 9:30am onwards. The first part will be for juniors and other half will be for seniors. Students will be learning toda , tihai, paranamad, ladu etc in teentaal. And seniors will learn composition in taal Ashtmangal.

Rajendra Gangani is an Indian Kathak dancer known for his innovative style and technical wizardry. Gangani is one of the leading exponents of the Jaipur Gharana style of Kathak. For his contributions to the field of Kathak, Gangani received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2003 from the President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

The workshop is organised by Arti Shankar, Nrityakunj Academy of Kathak dance. She has been teaching and inspiring students for 14 years. She learned from Pt. Rajendra Gangani in Delhi Kathak Kendra before staring her journey as a teacher.
