Rama Devi Nalla

Born in a small village in Khammam district, Telangana, Rama Devi Nalla, began learning Bharatanatyam under Guru Girija Devi at the age of four. Her first solo performance was at the age of 10 years and since then, she along with her students has performed at several popular temples in the two Telugu speaking states, Naadneerajanam programme hosted by the SVBC, Kashi temple live channel, Koti Deeposthavam, Dooradarshan live programmes, Tyagaraaya Gaana Sabha, and Shilparamam. Rama Devi along with her students performed at Badrinath and Kedarnath and was honoured with Natya Kala Ravali award.

Rama Devi has taken her dance across the Indian borders to Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Dubai (Global Village festival). To perfect her art, Rama Devi underwent rigorous training under various Gurus like Sitha Mahalaxmi, Anuja and Rajeshwari Sainath and shared the stage with them during Bharatanatyam recitals. Her quest for knowledge led her to Dr. P. Rama Devi, who encouraged and taught her Kuchipidi dance form.

She quit her corporate job, and on the support and encouragement of her family, Rama Devi started her own dance academy, Srivaari Paadalu. She trains children and adults in this beautiful art form. On the academic front, under Guru Dr. Hema, Rama Devi topped the Bharatanatyam certification exam conducted by Potti Sriramulu University, Hyderabad.
