Sandhya practices and teaches Kuchipudi, Andhra Natyam and Perini. Sandhya began learning Kuchipudi from the age of four years from renowned Kuchipudi Guru Smt. Nemalikanta Suvarnalata Garu and Guru Smt. Prasanna Rani Garu. Later, she learnt Andhra Natyam and Perini from Guru Pavan Kumar Garu. With over two decades of experience, Sandhya has a good command over technique as well as abhinaya. She also holds a Diploma in Classical Dance.
The Kuchipudi practitioner, who teaches at Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar, Amberpet, Hyd., and at her own school, Vagdevi Arts Academy has performed at various events, festivals across India. She has also been a part of various ballets choreographed by Kuchipudi Gurus and Andhra Natyam Gurus.
Sandhya was bestowed with the Best Youth Dancer Award from Abhinaya Nrutya Bharathi, Eluru, in 2006 and Platinum Medal by Italy University at the meet held at Birla Science Centre, Hyderabad in 2007. She has participated as a trainer in Kalaparichayam – a summer cultural course in basics of music and Dance organised by Department of Culture – 2004; and attended workshop organised by Andhra Natyam & Perini Artists Association and Department of Culture at Lalitha Kala Peetham – 2012. She has the privilege of choreographing dance ballet ‘Devi Mahatyam’ and ‘Saraswati Stotram’. She has performed at major festivals in Karim Nagar, Shivaratri Brahmotsavam in Sri Kaalahasthi, ‘Muvvala Savvadi’ dance program conducted by Doordarshan, Hyderabad, Naadaneerajanam conducted by SVBC, Thyagaraya Aaradhana Utsavams, Vemulawada. She was in the forefront when she presented new innovative choreography items in Perini Natyam on May 14, 2019 at Ravindra Bharathi.
