Sindhuja

Sindhuja, who initially started learning Bharatanatyam, but found her calling in Kuchipudi, undergoes training under Guru Dr. Yashoda Thakore. Sindhuja received initial training from Smt. Madhavi, Smt. Padma Kalyan and Sri Vedantam Raghava and since 2005 is under the guidance of Dr. Thakore. She junked her career as an Architect, to pursue a career in performing arts. 

Sindhuja commenced performing at a tender age of eight and has been majorly a solo performer ever since, playing roles in ballets and group performances along with her teachers’ ensemble. She has performed internationally in the US, China, London, Fiji and Cook Islands. And in India, at various prestigious venues like the Tanjore Temple, Konark Temple, Chennai, Mysore, Mumbai, Tirumala, Vijayawada, Kuchipudi to name a few apart from a host of events in her home town, Hyderabad. She has also performed twice in Naadneerajanam programme hosted by SVBC.

The dancer has composed compositions like the Shabdams, Javalis, Tarangams, Keertanas, etc (in both solo and group presentational styles) in a bid to achieve a unique style drawing inspiration from the readings/texts and other dances that she watches. She had the privilege to compose and present a rare Churnika by Rama dasu. She is currently working on full length productions.

A graded artist by Doordarshan Kendra, Hyderabad, Sindhuja has a Masters degree in Carnatic vocal from Sri Padmavati Mahila University-2016 and Masters in Performing Arts with specialisation in Kuchipudi from the University of Hyderabad-2013. Sindhuja is currently pursuing her Doctoral Research in the area “Writings on Indian Classical Dances in the 20th century: Specific Focus on Kuchipudi” from the Department of Dance, University of Hyderabad under the guidance of Dr. Anuradha Jonnalagadda. A recipient of JRF scholarship from UGC, Sindhuja has presented papers at various National Seminars.

Winner of many laurels like Nritya Praveena; Outstanding Woman of the year 2019; Natya Ravali; Nritya Bhushan; Nritya Kinnera; Bala Pratibha; Bala Mayuri, Sindhuja commenced teaching dance in 2011, but established the SINJINI SCHOOL OF ARTS (Regd.) in 2016 and trains enthusiasts in both dance and music.
