2-hour scintillating performance by students of five Gurus

There were scintillating performances by the students of Guru Smt. Sundari Ravichandra, Guru Smt. Sai Sree, Guru Smt. Lalitha, Guru Sri Pramod Kumar Reddy & Kum. Arunjyothi, on the occasion of Guru Poornima, organised under the banner of Pranam by Abhinetri Arts Academy at the Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday last. Pranam is an annual event organised by the Alumni of SBR Government College of Dance and Music to pay tribute to their Guru Smt. Manjula Srinivas. As it was Guru Poornima, it was an aesthetic tribute to the ‘Guru- Shishya’ parampara. The two-hour long presentation revolved around the traditional Maargam of Bharatanatyam.

The evening started with students of Guru Smt. Sundari Ravichandra & Guru Smt. Saisree presenting traditional ‘Pushpanjali’ in Natta Raagam & Adi Taalam followed by slokas. Guru Ravichandra’s students later presented ‘Natesha Kauthuvam’ in Hamsadhvani Raagam and Adi Taalam, while Guru Pramod Kumar Reddy’s students presented Jatiswaram, a Dayanand Saraswathi’s composition in Hamsanandhi Raagam & Adi Taalam.

Students of RK’s Kala Nilayam brought the stage alive with ‘Bho Shambo’ set in Revathi Raagam and Adi Taalam. Another joint presentation, a Varnam, by the students of Gurus Ravichandra, Sai Sree, Laliltha and Arunjyothi was a composition of Chinnaiah, ‘Saami Nee Rammani’ set in in Khamaas Raagam and Adi Taalam, which was a treat to watch because of the coordination.

Chandana and Sahaja Snigdha, students of Guru Lalitha presented a Tarangam, ‘Jaya Jaya Vaishnavi’ in Aarabhi Raagam and Adi Taalam. Guru Ravichandra’s students presented ‘Manasa Sancharare’ in Saama Raagam and Adi Taalam. The finale events were presented by students of Guru Pramod Kumar Reddy. They performed to a composition of Adi Shankaracharya, ‘Meenakshi Pancharatnam’ set in Malika Raagam. Last on the agenda was the Thillana, composed by Tampella Suryanarayana set in Adi Talam performed by Swetha and Madhuri.

The students who performed on Guru Poornima included Sathvika, Nishika, Moksha, Hasini, Advika, Udaya, Sree Saanvi, Nishitha, Kiranmayee, Sahasra, Preethi, Jyotsna, Sahana, Sushmitha, Tanvitha, Vedoghri, Meghana, Jvaritha Reddy, Ananya, Arunjyothi, Bhavyasree, Akshaya, Rithika, Keyuree, Shreya, Manogna, Krithi, Srikruthi, Aditi, Swathi, Veera and Kavya.

On the Music ensemble, there was Swetha Prasad on the Vocals, I.V. Renuka Prasad on the Mridangam, MSN Murthy on the Violin and Venkatesh on Flute.
