Vedantham Sathya Narasimha Sastry is not only an acclaimed Kuchipudi dancer but also an amazing Guru and choreographer. Popularly known as ‘Satyam Sir’, Vedantham Sathya Narasimha Sastry is the founder of the Vedantam Kuchipudi Art Academy. With over 1K performances to his credit, Satyam Sir learnt dance under Kuchipudi Maestros Sri Vedantham Radheshyam garu, Padma Bhushan Vempati Chinna Satyam garu and Sri Vedantham Rathaiah Sarma garu. He has left a lasting impression while playing the characters of Prahalada, Hiranaksyapa, Shiva, Brungeeswara, Gadadhara, Annamayya, Krishna among many others. Sathya Narasimha Sastry has also performed as Sutradhari in Bhamakalapam, and Madhavi to leave the audience mesmerised. He has also choreographed various Thyagaraja and Annamacharya kritis, Thillanas and Tarangams. Some of his Kuchipudi Yakshanganam ballets are – Parvati Parinayam, Rutu Samharam and Sri Padmavathi Venkateswara Parinayam.
He is also proficient in Carnatic vocal, Mrudangam, Nattuvangam and Sahityam. From Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University he holds a Diploma in Kuchipudi dance, PG Diploma in Yakshaganam and Certificate in Mrudangam.
He has been honoured with many awards which include the Ugadi Puraskaram given by Andhra Pradesh government and Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. He has trained over 200 students and some of them are running their own institutes.
