Amy Kumar

For Amy Kumar Choutupalli, a Doordarshan graded artist and Bio-Medical Geneticist, Kuchipudi dance is a passion. And for this, Amy has been honoured with Anji Reddy Excellence Award. She breathes life into her character mesmerising you and transporting you to another world. Amy took the first steps into Kuchipudi in 1999 under the guidance of S K Raghavachary, PB Krishna Bharathi and Dr. Anupama Kylash. Not to sit tight with one art form, Amy forayed into learning Veena from Guru Vidhusi Padma Rangaswamy and Keyboard from Prabhakar and Dinkar.

Amy Kumar has been part of Dance Ballets – Padavali of Bhanusingh, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, Anubhav – Images (to name a few) choreographed & directed by her Guru Dr. Anupama Kylash. She was also part of Kuchipudi Ballets – Natavesha Krishna & Ekta, choreographed & directed by Kuchipudi and Vilasini Natyam dancer Padma Bhushan Swapna Sundari. She also featured in Andhra Kala Vaibhavam – Dance Ballet choreographed by Natyacharya Krishna Kumar. On multiple occasions, Amy has performed at Tirupati Brahmotsavams, for the SICA in Hyderabad and at Nishagandi Festival, Kerala.

In a bid to give back to the society, Amy founded the Prerana Pratibha, where she imparts classes to children and young adults. Currently, she teaches Kuchipudi at Our Sacred Space, Secunderabad. Amy loves performing at Our Sacred Space, Phoenix Arena, Shilparamam, Jaganath Temple, Apollo Amphi Theatre to name a few.
