Abhinayavani Nrithyanikethan run by Guru Chavali Bala Tripura Sundari, daughter of Padma Bhushan Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam and Rinda Saranya Kuchipudi Dance Academy founder, Dr. Yashoda Thakore are jointly presenting Kuchipudi-Nritya-Natika Āmuktamālyada on 18 February 2023 at Ravindra Bharathi from 6.30 pm onwards.

Guru Bala Tripura Sundari’s knowledge of music ragas and dance jatis, make her compositions very elaborate for a rasika to view and grasp. Her other notable intricate choreographies are – Pahi pahi bala ganapathey; Mathey Malayadhwaja- Khamas varnam; Samba Sivayanave- Khamas swarajathi; Tillana- Farazu; Nataraja Stuthi; Vande Vasudevam and Saroja Dalanetri.

According to Guru Bala Tripura Sundari, this Kuchipudi dance drama is an adaptation of the poetic composition Āmuktamālyada, one of the Telugu Pancha-Maha-Kavyas authored by the great poet king Sri Kṛiṣhṇa Devarāya, 500 years ago.
This Kuchipudi dance drama Āmuktamālyada choreographed by Guru Bala Tripura Sundari is a Telugu poetic masterpiece of the highest order, an epic in its own right, not only for its poetic beauty, but also for its unique religious and political themes, that coursed through the heart and mind of the multi-faceted poet-emperor, as well as his vast and diverse empire, embedded within its central narrative, the story of Andal (Goda Devi).
For the first time, the doyen’s daughter has roped in Kuchipudi and Devadasi-Nrityam styles dancer, Dr. Yashoda Thakore, as Advisor and Consultant. The other shining stars include versatile and multi-talented music composer, Dr T. K. Saroja, who holds a master’s in Mathematics, teaches at IIIT-Hyd, a grade two composer at AIR, has composed music for Amuktamalyada, while Pravachana Siromani, Dr. T. K. Chudamani, has penned the script for this dance drama. Chennai-based artist Keshav Venkataraghavan, from Krishna for today, did the cover art for Amuktamalyada – A Kuchipudi dance drama.


Artists playing prominent roles in this dance drama include Guru Bala Triupura Sundari (Nattuvangam), Darbha sisters – Mrudu Ravali and Harini (Female Singers), Kalyan Vasant and Mantha Srinivas (Male Singers), Chandrakanth (Mridangam), A Shiva Krishna Swaroop (Violin), K Uma Venkateshwarlu (Flute), Sai Prasad Raju (Veena), Dr. Srikanth Ramanujapuram (Special Effects), A Murali Krishna and Dr. Katyayani Kanak will do the compering in Telugu and English respectively. Others lending support include Sudarshan Rao and Abhiram Chavali (Sets Design), Surabhi Kishore (Lights and sets) and Ashok Bhupathi and team (Make-up).
