
Bharatanatyam dancer and singer, Geeta Ganesan, speaking to Natyahasini, states that like every year, this year too, on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, Uttara Centre for Performing Arts (UCPA) are presenting a plethora of dance forms and dancers at Shringeri Shankar Mutt, Nallakunta on Saturday 18 February and Sunday 19 February at Mini Shilparamam Uppal as a tribute to all frontline workers.
Geeta says that Indian Classical Dances to be performed are Kuchipudi, Odissi, Chhau, Kathak, Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam. The dancers are Kolkatta based Mumpi Das (Odissi), Karnataka-based dancers Ameya Sameesh and Jeetika Y.S to present Bharatanatyam, Laxmidhar Ghunia from Orissa to present Chhau, Pune-based Shreya Kulkarni and Shraddha Mukhade to present Kathak, Karnataka based Kalamandalam Vaishnavi and Srushti Desakshi to perform Mohiniyattam, and Athira Sajeev and Sidhenda Chokilangam to present Kuchipudi.
According to Geeta, the UCPA is hosting a two-day dance weekend feast for all dance lovers.
