Performing and winning accolades since childhood is not new to upcoming Bharatanatyam dancer Laasya Rana, who will be making her solo dance debut in Nrityam Samarpayami on Saturday 28 May 2022 at Phoenix Arena Hitech City. Laasya will be performing in the monthly concert for kids aged between 10-20 years hosted by Bharatiya Kala Samskruti.

Laasya Rana, student of Class VII, The Hyderabad Public School, is fortunate to have been born to the sounds of music and dance, as her mother Subbu Lakshmi Rana is also a Bharatanatyam dancer and musician. According to her mother, Laasya instead of speaking as a toddler would communicate through dance only, thus sowing the seeds to become a Bharatanatyam dancer.

Her mother proudly recalls that when Laasya was four-years-old, she had participated in a competition titled “Little Idols” held by the Education Times. “At the competition, the audience and judges were equally amazed and thrilled to see her performing with such precision and discipline,” her mother states.

Speaking about the dancer, the Guru mentions that Laasya is an aspiring student and loves to experiment and explore creative things. “With the help of ‘Bharatanatyam Mudras’, Laasya narrates mythological and folk stories,” her mother says. Subbu Lakshmi goes on to add that Laasya is also learning Carnatic music and Violin under the guidance of Smt. Subhadra and Shri Amitabh, and Drawing and Painting from Smt. Jaya. She also loves to skate and play badminton, reveals her mom.

After winning the “Little Idols” trophy in 2013, the young dancer has won laurels in various state and school competitions in Classical and Folk dance. It must be mentioned that young Laasya was selected as a part of “Kutty Kahani”, an inspiring initiative produced and presented by Padma Shri Dr. Ananda Shankar and team, was telecast on DD Bharati. She has successfully passed Praveshika Pratham, Praveshika Poorna in First division and Madhyama Pratham in Distinction held by Akhil Bharatiya Gandharava Mahavidyalaya Mandal.
