Sushmitha Anantha Murthy was initiated into Kuchipudi dance by her mother Savitha Murthy under Guru Smt. Sailaja Prasad initially. Later, she moved to Bharatanatyam under Gruru Geeta Ganesan in 2005 and performed her arangetram in 2008. Interested to learn Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam’s style of Kuchipudi, Sushmitha began training under Dr. Himabindu Kanoj of Muvva Nritya Raga Nigamam. She is also training in the Bharati Sivaji style of Mohiniyattam under Smt. Vinaya Narayanan (Samarpana, Bangalore).
Among the performance close to her heart is arangetram in Bharatanatyam under Guru Geetha Ganesan, in 2008, at Ravindra Bharati, Hyderabad, the first time where she performed a complete margam on stage. The others include solo concert at the Kalasagaram Dance festival in Hyderabad, having won several prizes at the All India Competitions in Music and Dance held at Navya Nataka Samiti, Hyderabad in sub-junior, junior and senior categories between 2002 to 2010, including the rolling trophy, CCRT scholarship holder in Bharatanatyam, Delhi. Apart from performing at various metros in India, Sushmitha also danced as part of the Maha Brinda Natyam- Silicon Andhra 2nd International Kuchipudi Dance Convention, Hyderabad to earn a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Currently, she is pursuing Post Graduation in MD Psychiatry at SVMC Tirupati and learning and practicing all dance forms in her leisure hours.
