The first family of the State led by Sri K Chandrasekhar Rao garu, his son K T Rama Rao garu, his daughter K Kavitha garu, his nephew T Harish Rao and other distinguished guests like Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Sri. J. Santosh Kumar garu will be present in full strength to witness the Kuchipudi Rangapravesam of Ananya Polsani, disciple of Sangeeta Natak Akademi awardee and Chairperson of Telangana Sangeet Natak Akademi, Guru Deepika Reddy on Saturday 12 August 2023 at Ravindra Bharathi from 6pm onwards.
Born to Sowmya and Srinivas Rao Polsani, Ananya Polsani began learning Kuchipudi at the age of nine under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Deepika Reddy, with lot of passion and dedication. Over the years, Ananya has perfected the art of abhinaya. She is fortunate to be a part of many acclaimed dance ballet productions of Deepanjali. Along with her Guru, Ananya has performed at Swatantra Bharata Vajrotsavalu (75 years of Indian independence celebrations in Telangana), Telangana Vaibhavam, Rukmini Krishna, the closing ceremony of Prapancha Telugu Mahasabhalu, and herself at the Founders Day celebrations of Chirec International School and Natyotsavam dance drama festival at Thiruvananthapuram.
Equal Weightage: Ananya gives equal weightage to dance and academics alike, perfectly balancing her time at several prestigious shows and at school. At dance class, her spirited attitude shines through, as her fellow dancers feel she is approachable and easy to collaborate with.
Ananya is a Mathematics topper and has secured excellent grades in all her subjects. She is Vice-captain of her house in 11th grade and is currently the Head Girl of Chirec International School. Also, she plays guitar and has passed Grade 3 from Trinity school of Music, London. For her accomplishments in Social Causes, she has been awarded the “Volunteer Champion” for the year 2022-23 for launching “Stories on Wheels”, a mobile library, working with Devnar Blind School, Blue Cross and Evidyaloka (a non-profit organization that focuses on transforming the educational landscape of rural India).
Guru Deepika Reddy: The debutant’s Guru needs no introduction. In 2022, she was appointed the Chairperson of the Telangana Sangeet Natak Akademi and she has been organising many programmes, discussions and workshops to benefit the artistic community – be it classical, folk or tribal. The SNA awardee Deepika Reddy’s journey in dance started five decades ago, and she is recognized as an accomplished performer, a creative choreographer, a cultural ambassador and a dedicated Guru. Groomed by the legendary Guru Padma Bhushan awardee, Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, she is acknowledged as one of the leading exponents of the Kuchipudi art form in the present times.
She is the recipient of the prestigious National Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar for her contribution to Kuchipudi, also the recipient of Telangana Govt. State Award; ‘Kala Ratna’ Andhra Pradesh Govt. state award; Nritya Choodamani by Krishna Gana Sabha among many others. Also, she has performed extensively in prestigious dance festivals in India and abroad. Some of her significant performances are at the Festival of India in Berlin; Rashtrapathi Bhavan, the Sri Lankan Parliament; the Bolshoi Theatre in Russia; and was conferred honorary citizenship after her performance in Miyoshi, Japan.
Among many of her acclaimed dance ballets, the Covid-centered video, she produced in April 2020 during the lockdown – among the first of its kind –broadcast across the media, had an enormous impact beseeching respect for frontline healthcare workers. The Guru believes that dance is not only a passion but worship of the divine art form.
Ananya’s Items: For Ananya’s Rangapravesam, all the evening’s dance pieces have been choreographed by her Guru Deepika Reddy. She will be beginning the performance with Oothukadu Venkata Subbaiyer’s ‘Pranavakaram’ in Arabhi ragam and Adi talam, followed by Telangana poet Ramadasu Keertana, ‘Thakkuvemi Manaku’ in Saurashtra ragam and Adi talam. After this, Ananya will be depicting her natya & nritya in Vaddepalli Krishna’s composition ‘Rudrama Pravesam’, set in Samudra Priya & Dhenuka ragam and Adi & Khandachapu talam and set to tune by D S V Sastry. Narayana Theertha’s composition, ‘Veekshe Kada Devadevam’, set in Ragamalika and Adi talam has been musically composed by D S V Sastry. The curtains will fall with Swathi Tirunal’s Thillana in Dhanasri ragam and Adi talam.
The evening’s music orchestra will be led by Guru Smt. Deepika Reddy on Natuvangam, Dandibhotla Srinivasa Venkata Sastry on Vocals, K. Rajagopalacharya on Mridangam, K. Sai Kumar on Violin and V.B.S. Murali on Flute.
