Nrithyarpanam, A Divine Offering

Nruthyadeekshalaya, the Gateway of Kuchipudi, founded by Kuchipudi dancer Lakshmi Shankar is presenting the fourth edition of Nrithyarpanam, a divine offering, a Kuchipudi Dance Festival, on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Ravindra Bharathi from 6pm onwards.

Nruthyadeekshalaya under the able guidance of Lakshmi Shankar aims to teach pure and revived tradition of Kuchipudi Dance with cultural ethics and aesthetics. The dancer really enjoys the pleasure in imparting her knowledge in dance into moulding her students to success. Nruthya Deekshalaya truly works to preserve the art form to attain great heights to reach the supreme.

The guest artists for the evening are Prajnana Dipika and Sai Venkata Gangadhar. Prajnana Dipika began learning dance under Kalaratna Guru Sri Vempati Ravi Shankar, at the age of eight, and is currently learning under Smt. Lalitha Kalpana. Daughter of Smt. Lalitha Kalpana & Dr. Sreenivas Jayanti, Prajnana is pursuing her second year Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Chennai.

Sai Venkata Gangadhar has been learning dance for the last 11 years under Smt. Sandhya Raju at Nishrinkhala Dance Academy, and after his Rangapravesham has been teaching the art form to youngsters at the Academy. He is also trained in Gymnastics and completed his post graduation – MPA (Kuchipudi) from University of Hyderabad.

The programme schedule is as follows: Rangapooja, Tandava Nritya Kari, Anugrahitham (Guru Stuthi), Yoga Yogeshwari (Kamakshi Navavarnam), Performance by Sai Venkata Gangadhar, Performance by Prajnana Dipika, Sadhinchane (Pancharatna Keerthana), Anjaneyam Sada (Nottuswaram), Marakatha and Mangalam.

The distinguished guests for the evening are: Kalarathna Dr. Sathyapriya Ramana, senior disciple of Guru Padma Bhushan Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, Director, Narthanasala, Chennai; Madabhushi Sabitha Krishna, Kuchipudi exponent & cine actress; Mamidi Harikrishna, Director, Dept. of Language & Culture, Hyderabad; Natya Visarada J Lalita Kalpana, disciple of Guru Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam and Guru  Vempati Ravi Shankar, Pratisrut ART-IITM, Chennai; V Padma Kalyan, Founder/Director Sanchalana School of Dance, Hyderabad.
